Car Mods: Plasti Dip, Should you use it?
A big portion of the car world is centered around modifying cars. This can be as small as doing simple aesthetic mods or as large as doing an engine swap. One of the most popular ways to modify a car is to get different wheels. Adding a new set of wheels can completely change the way the car looks. There are tons of options for different colors, styles, and finishes of wheels. However, wheels can often cost more than $1000. It is a well known fact that many people just don't have the money for that.
If it is a simple color change you are looking for on your wheels, there is a way you can do this without breaking the bank. It is called Plasti Dip. Plasti Dip is a spray-on rubberized coating that comes in a can. It is a very straightforword process to use Plasti Dip. What you will need to Plasti Dip your wheels is as follows:
About two cans of the product
Cleaning product for wheels
Newspaper
Tape
Car Jack (optional)
Before you can even start to use Plasti Dip, you need to make sure your wheels are clean. Get a cleaning product, some water and get scrubbing. Next, jack the car up and take the wheels off or you can cover your brakes and the areas of the car around the wheels with newspaper. This will prevent overspray from happening. After that, make sure to tape off any parts of the wheels you don't want colored such as the center logos and air filler nozzle.
Now that you're prepped, it's time to Plasti Dip Start by doing a light dusting at first. This will create a good bond between the wheel's surface and the product. Next, apply about six more heavy coats waiting about 10 minutes between coats. You have now changed your wheels drastically for less than $20 instead of $1000+.
