Impreza, Miata and Mustang: Three Perfect Cars for Beginner Enthusiasts
The biggest hurdle when leaping head first into the car scene is actually having a car. While modifying cars can quickly get pricey, there are cars that are relatively cheap and are cheap to modify. For this week's post I have compiled a list of three cars that fit in this "cheap" category.
to make this a more diverse list I have selected one convertible (I will be referring to these as roadsters from this point on), one two door hardtop (coupe) and one four door sedan.
1. Mazda MX5 Miata

Subaru started production of the WRX in 1992. The WRX is a version of the Subaru Impreza designed for rally racing or off road racing. The WRX is the most practical car on this list as most generations came in four door sedan and four door hatchback body styles. These cars are both reliable and easy to upgrade. These cars have the potential to make lots of power because they use turbocharged engines. Turbo chargers are a way of forcing more air into the engine which gives it more power. Early generations of the WRX can be had for anywhere from $2000-$9000.

1. Mazda MX5 Miata

Fuel economy: 28 mpg city/35 mpg highway

The Miata was launched by Mazda in 1989. It was inspired by the small British roadsters of the 60s and 70s. The Miata is known for its supreme handling and light weight. There are also four different generations or redesigns of the Miata which gives buyers a lot to choose from. If you look for a first or second generation Miata, you will find that a pristine example can be had for around $5000.
2. Ford Mustang
Horsepower: 300
Weight: 3351 lbs
Fuel economy: 19 mpg city/28 mpg highway
Average price: $8000
The Ford Mustang hit the streets in 1965. Since then it has undergone six redesigns and is still in production. The mustang is the easiest car on this list to acquire and modify in the US being that it is a US manufactured car. While the Mustang hasn't had the best reputation for its handling, it is known for having an engine with lots of torque. This means that the Mustang can accelerate very quickly and do burnouts easily, a showoff's dream car. Mustangs can be had for as low as $1500 because of the amount of them that have been made.
3. Subaru Impreza WRX
Horsepower: 215
Weight: 2689 lbs
Fuel economy: 21 mpg city/26 mpg highway
Average price: $2000

I hope this post gave you an idea about the different types of entry-level vehicles that can be had for relatively inexpensive prices. Until next week.
