Motorcycle Mods: Pod Filters

For enthusiasts who prefer two wheels, there are a host of modifications for motorcycles that can enhance both the looks and performance of your bike. One of the most common and useful mods for older motorcycles are pod filters. I say older motorcycles because this mod is for bikes that still use carburetors to get the right mixture of fuel and air to the engine. Pod filters have two advantages over standard box air filters.

1. Air flow
Most pod filters will increase the airflow to a motorcycle's engine thus causing it to run better. Sometimes these pod filters will cause a small gain in power.

2. Space savings
Standard box filters take up a lot of space in the middle portion of a motorcycle's frame. Pod filters are much smaller. This leaves a wide open space that the rider can use for many different purposes such as a custom battery housing, storage space, or even leaving it open to make the visual weight of the motorcycle more appealing.

Pod filters are not an inexpensive mod to perform. The pod filters I use on my bike cost $15 for a pack of four. They are also very easy to install! I will leave a link to a video of me installing my pod filter on my motorcycle for visual purposes. I hope this was helpful to all you two-wheeled enthusiasts out there.
