Where My Automotive Passion Started

Every car enthusiast has a reason that they got interested in automobiles. Each story is unique and very interesting. Today I figured I would share mine with you.

Cars are in my blood. It started with my grandfather who I would classify as a professional tinkerer. He always had projects in his garage and in the junkyard he owned. His goal was always purposeful. He would take old, broken down cars and get them running and he would keep them for as long as he liked until he wanted to sell them and start something else. He didn't typically restore cars, they were always purpose-built. His main passion was with Ford Model T's. He had a few Model T's one of which he fully restored and drove across the country in to get to Model T conventions.

The next in my bloodline that was into cars was my father. My dad was less of a tinkerer and more of an enthusiast and owner. He loved little European roadsters. He had everything from MG's and Austin Healeys to Alfas and Fiats.

Sadly, my dad had these cars when he was young which was many years before I was born so I didn't get to experience them. He has told me stories about his various cars and he described every single one of them as "a blast to drive but a pain in the ass". He was also into motorcycles. He had a few motorcycles and even wrecked one before I was born but the only motorcycle I ever saw him ride was his big Harley Davidson. My dad passed this love of cars on to me and they have been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember.

Today, I am an enthusiast with big plans for my two builds. I followed in the footsteps of my dad and chose a European car and a motorcycle as my personal projects.
I hope you enjoyed my story about the origins of my passion for automobiles. The main takeaway from this post is that everyone who is interested in cars, trucks or motorcycles has a reason. Automobiles are so important to people not because they are fast or stylish, but because they connect us to people and memories that will last forever.

~Enjoy the Road~
